A Spanish Cuisine Overview

Going on a culinary exploration has never been easier with so many different kinds of cuisine that you can try. One of the main cuisines which people have been discovering is Spanish cuisine. The food itself is rich in garlic and peppers, but is hardly ever spicy. Too often people confuse Spanish food with Mexican food and it is important to understand that they are two completely different cuisines. Many of the different Spanish dishes are all about long cooking times and creating foods which will simply melt in your mouth.

Among the favorite kinds of dishes that you can enjoy whenever eating Spanish cuisine are the different kinds of tapas you can enjoy. These are small dishes which have been created for bar patrons over the years and have become a part of the culture. They are characterized by the small plate which is designed to fit on top of a pint of beer that you might have from the bar. You can try one of these as well as pastas and even rice dishes which are created with rich and vibrant flavors simmered throughout the dishes.

Popular Tapas

Tapas have moved out of the bars and into some of the most celebrated restaurants of the world. You can enjoy everything from seasoned meatballs to lamb sandwiches with special cheese like manchego or mahon. These delights can easily be picked up with your hands and they are perfect for sharing with your friends. You can make something as simple as a cracker with speck, manchego and quince paste on it. This cold tapa is something which has been served for years to those looking for a quick snack and a delicious treat.

Pasta Dishes to Celebrate

The use of pork is very dominant in Spanish cuisine. This is why it is possible to find dishes like Papperdelle pasta with braised pork and pimientos simmered for long period of time until the pork is melting right into the pasta. This will normally be served along with a rich tomato broth which will go perfectly with many of the different Spanish breads that you can try. Of course a drizzle of olive oil is something which will liven up the dish as well. While Spain is not a country you would normally think of for pasta dishes, it is important to remember with Italy only a hop away, they have borrowed a lot from the culture.

Rice Dishes

One of the most recognized dishes which have come out of Spain over the years is Paella. This is a dish which was started in the wine fields and has since made its way around the world. Characterized by the paella pans and the many different ingredients like tomatoes and chicken which are common to the dish, it is possible to find this enjoyed by people of all backgrounds. The most popular form is the seafood form with chicken added to it as the original dishes were nothing more than traded items which could easily be found by those working in the fields all tossed into one pan.
